Run your own numbers

The math is thewhole argument.

Move the slider to what your car actually costs you each month, everything in: payment, insurance, fuel, parking, maintenance, and the value it quietly loses while it sits.

The middle number is the one to read. It is how many months your car has to keep costing you money before that money would have bought a Stellar outright.

Starting figure is the national average: $1,373 a month, per Ratehub’s 2026 cost-of-ownership analysis. The five-year figure assumes the Stellar replaces the car rather than sitting beside it, and has both the $3,799 purchase price and five years of charging, about $235, already taken out of it.

Where the money goes

Owning a car is morethan monthly payments.

Most people budget for the car payment and the fuel. The rest arrives quietly, and it is the larger half.

  • 01

    Depreciation you never see leave

Depreciation runs around $559 a month on a typical new vehicle over five years, and it is the single largest cost of owning one. It does not arrive as a bill, which is exactly why it gets left out of the budget.

  • 02

Insurance that charges you to park

Premiums run $1,000 to $2,400 a year depending on your province. You pay it whether the car moves or not, and it renews whether you drove last month or not.

  • 03

    Fuel at $1.75 a litre

Every trip has a meter running. A short errand costs the same per kilometre as the long drive you actually planned for.

  • 04

    Maintenance that arrives unscheduled

Tires, brakes, fluids, the light on the dash. None of it is optional, and almost none of it lands in the month you budgeted for it.

  • 05

The time you do not get billed for

Circling for parking. Sitting in traffic that a bike lane goes around. Nobody puts a number on it, which is exactly why it never gets counted.

None of that disappears because you drive less. It disappears when the car does. Which is only realistic if the thing replacing it can genuinely do the trips, and that is an engineering question, not a lifestyle one.

The honest obstacle

Most scooterscannot do this.

Other scooters are built for the last mile. Apollo is built for the whole trip. Four things break the moment you ask a last-mile scooter to be your actual transport, and the Stellar was specced against all four.

  • 01

The range dies before the week does

A 25 kilometres scooter means charging every night and doing arithmetic before every trip. The Stellar carries 90 km from a 1,800Wh Samsung pack, so most people charge two or three times a week and stop thinking about it.

  • 02

Too slow to hold a lane

Being significantly slower than surrounding traffic is its own hazard. Normal mode runs 40 km/h, which keeps pace with city streets, and there is a great deal more above it when a road opens up.

  • 03

Brakes specced for a slower machine

Traffic means stopping suddenly, in the wet, with a load. Four-piston hydraulics on 2.3mm rotors and ceramic pads, plus regenerative braking on both motors, is car-replacement hardware, not commuter hardware.

  • 04

It is only transport if it works in the rain

A scooter you park when the forecast turns is a toy with a job title. IP66 sealing, UL 2271 and 2272 certification, an aerospace-grade aluminum frame and self-healing tubeless tires mean weather is a clothing decision.

01 · Range

90 km. Then plug it into a wall.

60V. 30Ah. 1,800Wh of Samsung's highest-discharge cells, the largest battery in the Phantom lineup. That is enough for the commute and the errands on the way home, with the margin that stops you doing mental arithmetic at every junction. It charges from an ordinary outlet, which means no installation, no network, no app, no card.

  • Range Up to 90 km
  • Battery 60V 30Ah · 1,800Wh
  • Cells Samsung 21700
  • Full charge about 30 cents
  • Charge cycles 600+

Range varies with rider weight, speed, terrain and temperature. The 90 km figure is Eco mode at a steady pace. Cold weather and faster modes will reduce it.

02 · Speed

Fast enough to belong in traffic.

Dual motors and the MACH 3 controller deliver 7,000W of peak output and climb grades up to 25 degrees, so hills that would flatten a commuter scooter are just road. You will spend almost all of your time in Eco and Normal. The rest exists so that merging, overtaking and getting out of somebody's blind spot are decisions rather than hopes.

Four-piston hydraulic braking on the Phantom Stellar

03 · Stopping

Traffic is a braking problem.

Four-piston hydraulic calipers on ceramic pads, biting 2.3mm rotors, the thickest Apollo is aware of in this class. They resist the fade that ruins two-piston setups on a long descent or a wet week. Power RBS regenerative braking on both motors does the everyday slowing and reclaims up to 10% of your range, which keeps the hydraulics cool for the moment you actually need them.

  • Calipers 4-piston hydraulic
  • Rotors 2.3mm, ceramic pads
  • Regen Both motors, adjustable

04 · The road you actually have

Potholes are not an emergency.

125mm of DNM dual-spring hydraulic suspension with adjustable rebound and preload, on 11x4 inch PunctureGuard self-healing tubeless tires. Real roads have seams, drains and winter damage. This is the difference between a commute you look forward to and one you brace through.

  • Travel 125mm, adjustable
  • Tires 11 x 4 in, self-healing
  • Max load 330 lbs
Apollo Beam 360 degree lighting on the Phantom Stellar

05 · Being seen

Turn signals, because you are in traffic.

Most commutes start or end in the dark for half the year. The Apollo Beam throws a vertical eye-level beam drivers actually register, up to 500 feet out. Turn signals sit in the stem and deck so you can indicate without taking a hand off the bar, and the rear cluster runs continuously with a brake-activated flash.

  • Visibility Up to 500 ft
  • Coverage 360 degrees
  • Signals Front and rear

Transport, not a toy

It has to survivebeing relied on.

A car replacement gets used every day in whatever weather turns up. The Stellar is certified and built accordingly, and Apollo stands behind it in writing.

06 · Keeping it

Apple Find My, built in.

The thing that stops people committing to a scooter as transport is leaving it somewhere. Apple Find My is built into the Stellar with no subscription, no GPS module and no monthly fee, alongside NFC keyless start and a scooter lock in the app. The DOT 2.0 display is sunlight-readable, and the Apollo App tunes throttle curve, regen sensitivity and acceleration profile, then updates the scooter over the air.

Car figures from Ratehub.ca, total cost of car ownership in Canada, 2026. The Stellar total is the $3,799 purchase price plus five years of charging, figured at three full charges a week at about 30 cents each, which comes to roughly $235. It excludes consumables such as tires and brake pads. Your own numbers will differ, which is what the slider above is for.

Where it does not

What this will not do.

If a page like this only tells you the good half, check the other half yourself before you spend $3,799. Here it is.

  • ·
It carries one adult and a backpack. A grocery run for a family of four is still a car trip, or a delivery.
  • ·
It does not belong on a highway, and in most places it is not legal on one.
  • ·
Ice and heavy snow are a hard stop. IP66 handles rain, not a lack of traction.
  • ·
It weighs 107 lbs. It folds, but it is not something you carry up three flights of stairs daily.
  • ·
Cold weather cuts range, the same way it does on any battery vehicle.
  • ·
Where you can legally ride it, and how fast, is set by your province and your city. Check before you buy.

For most people the realistic version is not selling the only car. It is dropping the second one, or ending the lease, and keeping a rental or a rideshare budget for the handful of trips a scooter genuinely cannot do. That still removes the large recurring number from your month.

The Apollo guarantee

14 days to be sure,
then a lifetime frame.

Unbox it, look it over and measure it against the trips you actually make. If it is not the right machine, and the scooter is still unused and inside 14 days of delivery, Apollo's team handles the return or exchange through the self-serve portal. Once it has been ridden it is yours, which is why this page spends so long on what the Stellar will and will not do. Backing that up: lifetime frame coverage, a 12-month warranty on major components, and a price match if you find it cheaper.

Straight answers

Questions before you sell the car.

Can this really replace a car?

For the trips most people actually make, yes. The average commute is well inside 90 km, and Normal mode at 40 km/h keeps pace with city traffic. What it will not do is carry passengers, haul a large shop, or take a highway. The realistic version for most households is dropping a second car, or ending a lease, and keeping a rental budget for the handful of trips that genuinely need four wheels.

What does it cost to run?

A full charge is 1.8kWh, which at roughly 15 to 18 cents per kilowatt-hour works out to about 30 cents, and that covers up to 90 km. There is no insurance requirement, no registration in most places, no fuel and no oil. Consumables are tires, brake pads and the occasional part, and the self-healing tubeless tires reduce the most common of those.

How long before it pays for itself?

Against the national average of $1,373 a month, under three months. Use the slider near the top of this page with your own number, because the average is not your situation. If you are running an older car that is paid off, the payback is longer and honest budgeting matters more than a headline figure.

Is it legal where I live?

Rules are set province by province and often city by city, covering speed limits, where you may ride, helmet requirements and minimum age. Most places cap electric scooters well below the Stellar's top speed, which is why the lower modes exist. Check your local regulations before you buy, not after.

What about rain and winter?

IP66 sealing means rain and road spray are fine, and riders report commuting through wet weather without issue. Ice and packed snow are a different matter and are a genuine hard stop. Cold also reduces range, as it does with any battery vehicle, so a winter commute needs more margin than a summer one.

How do I stop it being stolen?

Apple Find My is built in with no subscription or GPS module, the app can lock the scooter, and NFC keyless start means there is no key to lose. It also weighs 107 lbs, which is its own deterrent. For anywhere you leave it regularly, add a proper lock as well.

How long does charging take?

Roughly 10 hours from empty on the included charger, which is the trade-off of a 1,800Wh pack. It plugs into an ordinary outlet, so most people charge overnight and never think about it. A faster charger is available separately.

Can I pay monthly instead of up front?

Yes. Financing is offered at checkout at 0% APR, starting from about $176 a month on the Stellar. Nothing on this page is priced differently if you finance, and there is no fee for paying the whole amount up front instead. The exact payment and term are shown by the provider at checkout.

What if I change my mind after it arrives?

You have 14 days from delivery to return it, provided the scooter is unused and in its original condition. That is deliberate: once a scooter has been ridden it cannot go back to another rider as new. So unbox it, check the dimensions, the weight and the specs against your own trips before your first ride, and use the honest list further up this page rather than finding out the hard way. Faults are a separate matter and are covered by the warranty, not the return window.

What happens if something breaks?

Major components are covered for 12 months from delivery, and the frame (stem, neck and deck) carries lifetime coverage. There are 60+ certified repair centres and in-app support staffed by Apollo technicians. If this is replacing your transport, that network matters more than any spec on this page.
